Web development is a craft
We recognise that web development is a modern-day craft. We perceive web applications as the medium of our work, whether we create them from scratch or play the rescue team to fix them live. We love what we do and feel happy when our things are used.
Functionality is the starting point
Good web applications are grown around a core functionality which brings value to end users. From there on cascade secondary and tertiary interactions, and their relative significance is reflected by the web components’ design. The latter must follow, not precede, and provide support for functionality.
Code longevity is good
Good code will be stable for years to come in any healthy Unix environment. More importantly, good code comes together with its unit tests, ensuring that when the code grows, no old functionality is broken and no bugs are allowed to creep in.
